C.  VERLEE GRONEMEYER , 85, of Meriden, Iowa passed away Saturday evening, May 18, 2019 in the Heartland Care Center at Marcus, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 23 ^rd , at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jean Morse will officiate.  Burial will be at the Meriden Cemetery.  There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Thursday. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com .

Verlee was born August 4, 1933 at Maryville, Missouri to Forrest and Dorris (McKee) Burch. She attended country school at Simson Bethel #8 in Missouri and graduated from Meriden High School in 1952.  She attended National Business Training in Sioux City, Iowa.  She was married to Russ Gronemeyer on June 3, 1956 at Marcus, Iowa.  She had worked as an office clerk for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and had also served as City Clerk in Tripoli, Iowa for many years, retiring in 1997. She had been a resident of Tripoli from 1964 until 1997 and following her retirement she moved to Meriden, Iowa.

Verlee was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. She had been active in

4-H, a den mother for Cub Scouts, V.F. W. Auxiliary and Music Mothers.  She enjoyed bingo, making strawberry jam, cooking and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Russ.

She is survived by her four children; Debra (Steven) Liddle of Meriden, Iowa, Mark (Karen) Gronemeyer of Marion, Iowa, Bruce (Jennifer) Gronemeyer of Tripoli, Iowa; Brenda (David) Hunemuller of Tripoli, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one sister, Mardell (Robert) Skaggs of San Juan Capistrano, California.
