On February 7, 1959, Bonnie was united in marriage to Dennis Thomas in Cherokee, IA. Following their marriage, Bonnie worked from home, where she loved and cherished the time spent caring for her three children. She later worked at Joyce's Shop and the golf shop.
Bonnie was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she served on various committees including the I.C. Women's Guild and Ladies Union. She enjoyed bowling and belonged to both TOPS and the Flying Club, where she often helped serve breakfasts at flight breakfast events. One of Bonnie's greatest thrills was the time Dennis and her parachuted out of an airplane.
