VIOLETTA G. BETTS , 94, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Sunday morning, June 12, 2022 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 9th, at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Burial of the cremains will be in the Orange Township Cemetery at Coon Rapids, Iowa. Violetta was born on January 25, 1928 to William D. (Clara (Eichorn) Schumann at Battle Creek, Iowa.  She was one of ten siblings.  Her mother passed away when Vi was 15 years old.

She was married to Alvin Nafe for 20 years and had a son, Wayne and a daughter, Linda. Vi was later married to Paul Betts for over 25 years, untile he passed away in 1998.  They resided in Buck Grove, Iowa (Denison) for their married life.

She worked in several different jobs including house painting, baking for a grocery store, and hotel housekeeping.

Vi enjoyed country dancing, fishing, bowling, and playing cards.  Vi always had a smile, and a hearty laugh.  She enjoyed kidding and being kidded.

She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Wilfred Schumann, Delvie Stewart, Marvin Schumann, Orville Schumann, Ronnie Schumann, and Johnny Schumann, and her husband, Paul Betts.

Her survivors include, children, Linda (John) Crone of Humble, Texas and Wayne Nafe of Cherokee, Iowa; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Baker of Sheffield, Iowa and Irma Redenius of Ida Grove, Iowa; brother, Merle (Boots) Schumann of Battle Creek, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.
