WANDA JEAN ROBESON, 88, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Countryside Estates in Cherokee.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7th, at 10 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Renee AuMiller will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 9:45 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Wanda was born February 14, 1923 at Washta, Iowa to Merle & Martha (Kissinger) Beazley. She attended school in Washta until 1938 when she moved with her parents to California. She attended school in Los Angeles and San Mateo. Her family moved back to Iowa in 1939 and graduated from Washta in 1940. Again the family moved to California where they lived in San Bruno, CA where she worked at Montgomery Wards and Bank of America. In 1946, they returned to Iowa where she was married to Norman Robeson on June 15, 1946 at Sioux City, Iowa. The couple had one daughter Joyce in 1949. Wanda worked at Baumann's Bakery, Coast to Coast and Lee's Hardware until she retired in 1987. She was a member of Washta Rebekah Lodge, Washta Study Club, U.M.W., Mary Circle, W.A.C., card club and the Washta Cemetery Association. She enjoyed cooking, music, dancing and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father in law Frank Robeson, mother in law Elsie Robeson, step mother-in-law Myrtle Robeson, sisters in law Peg Robeson, Helen Foss & Wanda Marie Robeson, brothers in law George Simon, Ivan Robeson & Judd Foss.
She is survived by her husband Norman, one daughter Joyce Kuhrts of Alta, Iowa; a sister Lela Warner and her husband Delmar of Storm Lake, Iowa; sisters in law Shirley Simon of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Eula Mae Best and her husband Ralph of Oxford, Nebraska; brother in law: Frank "Junior" Robeson and his wife Carla of Newton, Iowa.
