WARREN D. MOON , 84, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 30. 2020 in the Cherokee Specialty Care.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 2 ^nd at 3 p.m. the Onawa Cemetery at Onawa, Iowa. Pastor Michael Lewis will officiate.  The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Warren was born on February 15, 1936 at Omaha, Nebraska to Darold G. and Gladys (Wiig) Moon. He attended Onawa High School graduating in 1954. He went to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) graduating with his Bachelor's of Science in Geology and Geophysics in 1958. He then went on to the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech) and graduated with his Master's in Electrical engineering in 1959. He later earned his Master's in Geology and Geophysics from MIT in 1966.

Warren worked for RCA in their research and development for their Aerospace Division from 1962-1967. He owned and operated Real Time Geophysics in the Boston area from 1967-1974. Warren came to Iowa in 1975, where he owned and operated Rapid American Press in Cherokee from 1975 until his retirement.

He served on the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce and was on the Board of Directors for the Cherokee Community Theatre and the Cherokee Symphony.

He enjoyed spending time in his home in Cherokee with his champion show dog, Mighty Joe Young.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Darold Moon of Onawa, Iowa.

He is survived by his daughter Jessica Germain and her husband Gregory of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and their son Eli Germain.
