WAYNE H. HEIMGARTNER, 81, of Quimby, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Unity Point Health in Sioux City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, Iowa. Pastor Ray Ohlendorf will officiate. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery at Quimby, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Wayne was born on February 18, 1942 to Ruben and Florence Ann (Reinholdt) Heimgartner at LeMars, Iowa. He graduated from Union Consolidated High School in 1960. He attended Universal Trades School of Auto Mechanics in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated in 1961.
Wayne was married to Judy Fitzpatrick on February 11, 1962 at Kingsley, Iowa. He worked for Pimper's Garage in Howells, Nebraska and Pews Chrysler Dealership in LeMars as an auto mechanic. He then worked for Walnut Grove in Cherokee and Lemars and Bushlow's in Cherokee in their parts department. Wayne also helped farm the family farm. He retired in April 2006.
He was confirmed in the First Lutheran Church in Kingsley, Iowa in 1956 and was currently a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, Iowa.
In his spare time, he enjoyed trap and skeet shooting, collecting guns, reloading ammunition, hunting, collecting John Deere Precision toy tractors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Marsha Heimgartner, sister-in-law Sharon Heimgartner, brothers-in-law Darrell Fitzpatrick and Jerry Fitzpatrick and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Noreen and Bill King, parents-in-law Sandy and Elizabeth Fitzpatrick.
Wayne will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Judy of Quimby, Iowa; children Marchell Heimgartner and James DeWane of Woodstock, Illinois, Alan and Iris Heimgartner of Stockbridge, Georgia, Terry and Connie Heimgartner of Glendale, Arizona, and Nicole Heimgartner and Thomas Mier of Aurelia, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, Jason (Andrea) DeWane, Matthew DeWane, Allison (Tyler) Neaveill and their daughter, Kennedy, Liam (Ashley) DeWane, Joshua Heimgartner, Megan Heimgartner, Virginia Bermudez and her daughter, Serenity, George (Ayla) Bermudez and their children, Lyla, Audrey, and George, Brandon Mier, Brock Mier, Jadrien Mier, and Cole Mier; brother Daryl (Jeanie) Heimgartner ofLeMars, Iowa; sisters-in-law Norma (Matt) Mattson of Junction City, Oregon and Emmie Fitzpatrick of Des Moines, Iowa.
