WAYNE H.  WOOLRIDGE, 92, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away peacefully Friday morning, June 1, 2018 in Careage Hills.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5 ^th , at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jon Riggert will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery at Peterson, Iowa. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Wayne was born August 17, 1925 at Battle Creek, Iowa to Albert & Gladys (Carsten) Woolridge. He graduated from Peterson Consolidated School in 1943. He was married to Marlys Rehborg on January 6, 1952 at Ocheydan, Iowa. Wayne had worked for Iowa Electric Light & Power Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1989. He had been a resident of Cherokee since 1970 and prior to this had lived in Peterson, Spirit Lake and Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Wayne was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, a 50 year member of the Lion's Club, having received the Melvin Jones Award, was the chairman for the Cherokee PRCA Rodeo for 20 years and was on the Rodeo Board for over 40 years. He collected pop tabs (1.3 million) for the Ronald McDonald House, supported the Rodeo Queens, was a member of the Alzheimer's Support Group, and was active in the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce over the years.

Wayne enjoyed spending time camping with his camper friends, loved going to parades, and watching the Minnesota Vikings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marlys on May 5, 2004, two brothers Ralph and Lee Woolridge, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Eleanor (Gordon) Erler, Verla (Leo) Ling, and Jim Leckband.

He is survived by a sister-in-law: Maureen (Hank) Hellinga of Ocheyedan, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Keith Erler of Prince George, British Columbia; Scott Erler of Missoula, Montana; Greg Leckband of Ocheyedan, Iowa; Germaine Persing of Mound, Minnesota; Tammy Ling of Round Lake, Minnesota; Gary Woolridge of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Kristie Thomas and Kevin Snyder; very close friends Virginia Whittenburg and Dennis (Pam) Husman of Cherokee, Iowa.
